This is a beautiful story of a desperate woman, with nowhere else to turn. She had tried it all, spent all she had, and still suffered deeply. But she knew salvation was in Jesus. She knew that He was filled with the very presence of God. She knew, and she acted.

Pressing through the crowds, the distractions, the hindrances, the roadblocks, she pressed on to her goal. It wasn’t easy, she could have become discouraged by the tight crowd and difficulty, but she pushed on and pushed through.

Then, finally right behind Jesus as He walked, she was there. Imagine her fear! She knew who He was! She understood that right in front of her was the power that created the universe. What was she to do? Dare she speak to Him? Distract Him? Call His attention to herself? How could she? She was nothing.

So she reached out with a trembling hand, and lightly touched the edge of his clothes. Not a word, not a scene, just silently touching. And in that moment, that split second, the regenerative power of the Creator sprang through her body and set all right. Instantly healed.

But now what? He stopped walking! He turned! He knows! She hid her face trembling in fear! She expected the worst! What will He say? What will He do?

And then the second miracle. He knew her. He saw her faith, her humility, her anguish, and He spoke to her kindly. No reprimand for breaking any rules, no harshness, nothing but understanding and love. He confirmed her healing with compassion.

God honors faith. Even fearful faith. The certainty is not in the fear, but in the action. Even if you are afraid, timid, unsure, the action you take within that uncertainty is the faith God seeks. Act regardless of the feelings, and God sees. That is faith, faith is action.

This woman was healed that day. More importantly, Jesus spoke to her. He rewarded her faith. She was written into the pages of the few stories preserved forevermore in the scriptures. She earned a place in humanity and heaven. All because of fearful faith.

Where is your faith today? Do emotions hide the faith under a blanket of uncertainty? Just act anyway! Press through, touch the hem of His garment and be healed! Don’t listen to the fear, act on the faith.
